| Character Starting Level and Location |
Character Information |
All characters will be starting at Level 1.
The starting location for the campaign is a mining village called Diamond Lake, some distance east of Sharn on the shores of the Dagger River.
As much as possible, I would like characters to have grown up in Diamond Lake and have received training there. I will be posting suggestions on the latter as we get closer to launch date.
The start date will be a few years after the last war (WotC is not advancing Eberron's timeline as they did for Forgotten Realms), so older characters may have participated in that war.
In any case, at the start of the campaign, the characters are stuck in Diamond Lake possibly looking for some gold so they can leave. |

The following is some early information so you can start thinking about your characters.

| Dragonmarks |
After reading some of the sneak peeks of the EPG, I am confident that Dragonmarks and the Dragonmark Houses will play a part of Eberron.
t appears as though belonging to a Dragonmark House can be taken as a background (similar to backgrounds in PH2) and the Dragonmarks themselves can be taken as a feat. From what I can tell, the mechanics appear to be a little bit different than what we saw in 3.5.
It appears as though characters only have to take one feat and the powers of the Dragonmark improve with each tier. We'll know for sure on the 16th. I do know that a Dragonmark is required to perform certain rituals.

| House Rule: Latent Dragonmarks |
If for story or background reasons, you wish to start your character with a Dragonmark, but do not have the resources to do so, I will allow your character to have a Latent Dragonmark.
A Latent Dragonmark has the appearance of a true Dragonmark, but is either just an outline or the colors are faded. The Dragonmark provides no mechanical benefits until your character actually obtains a Dragonmark. At that time, the Dragonmark will manifest itself either filling in with color or becoming more robust colored and the character will receive the mechanical benefits from that. It will also provide a roleplaying opportunity as the mark manifests.

Character Background |
You may use backgrounds from Player's Handbook II or Eberron Player's Guide.
Spellscars do not really fit into Eberron so no character may have a spellscar.

| Previous Eberron Characters |
I have run Eberron campaigns before and some of you have had characters in those campaign.
Since the Age of Worms starts at level 1, most of them are not eligible to be in this campaign unless you are willing to restart them at level 1 and consider all previous experience as training for the present level.
One challenge with that is that there has to be a reason for the character to be stuck in Diamond Lake, but that is easy to overcome with a little work and imagination.
As we progress through the campaign, there will be opportunities for you to bring other of your characters in, if desired.
In any case, since the previous campaigns were using 3.5, the character will have to be re-imagined to 4E. |

A4E will use the standard Player's Handbook point by for starting Ability Scores.

Character Token |
I expect to be using Maptool shortly into the campaign. Please have an image ready for me to make a token. If you have Token Tool, you are welcome to make your own token, but I would appreciate it if you used a silver ring and provided me a copy.
If you are having difficulty finding a suitable image for you character, I will be glad to help in the search.
