| The Iphegenia Project |
| For many years the name of the sector below Vanguard Reaches was unknown. We only knew the names of the top four subsectors because of their inclusion in the Paranoia Press product that detailed the Vanguard Reaches. When I started using the sector for my Traveller adventures, I named it Dark River. Later a product was published showing sector names for a wider range of sectors than we originally had and I learned that it was named Iphegenia. At that time, I determined that Iphegenia was the Imperial name, but the locals continued to call it Dark River. Some time later, though, another map was released. It showed the positions of the stars on a dot map. Taking a look at it, I saw that the positions in no way corresponded to what I had done for Dark River. I determined to start rewriting the sector according to the dot map, but using as much of what I had originally done as possible. I started producing these sectors in the pages of the Times just as it was near the end of its run. As I can, I will publish those here and go on to finish this project. Because Iphegenia is "Behind the Claw" it was spared the ravages of Virus and is therefore little different than it was in 1117. Accordingly, I only produced 1201 data for the sector. Anyone wishing to use this sector could adjust it with very little effort or use it like it is and just change the date.
