Lazso Class Merchant
Based on a streamlined 200 ton hull, the Lazso class merchant has maneuver – 1, power plant – 1, and jump – 2 drives. A model 1-bis computer is installed next to the bridge.
The ship has 3 crew staterooms (double occupancy) and 8 passenger staterooms (single occupancy). It also has two low passage berths.
The ship has tankage for 10 tons of power plant fuel and 40 tons of jump fuel for 50 tons total of fuel.
The 62 ton cargo bay is divided into two sections, the larger forward cargo bay and the aft cargo bay. The aft cargo bay also includes a small vault for secure storage of valuable cargo. One design flaw of the Lazso class merchant is the absence of cargo locks, which requires a cargo hold to be completely evacuated of air before cargo transfer in space can occur. Many owners install one or more cargo locks as an after market upgrade, sacrificing a small amount of cargo space for improved transfer capability.
The ship has two single turrets, one with a beam laser and one with a sandcaster.
Crew requirements are: Pilot, Engineer, Medic, 2 Gunners, and a Steward.
Total cost of the ship is 55.45 MCr. After a downpayment of 11.09 MCr, monthly payments are 184,883 for 40 years.

Room Descriptions:
1. Beam Laser Turret – Fire control electronics and machinery for the ship’s beam laser.
2. Bridge – Central operation room for the ship. The forward stations are for a pilot (port side) and co-pilot (starboard side). These aft stations are for engineering (port) and navigation/communication (starboard). The ship only requires one pilot and the engineer has a station in engineering. The extra stations are available for an augemented crew. An iris valve behind the pilot station leads down to the sensor processor room.
3. Computer Room – Contains the model 1-bis computer and a computer workstation. Located outside the hull to the starboard of this room is the emergency oxygen supply. Bottles must be replaced from outside the hull.
4. Ship’s Locker – Secure storage for ships equipage. Just aft of the ship’s locker is the iris valve on the ceiling that leads up to the laser turret.
5. Crew’s Lounge – A common area for the crew to relax and take meals. There is storeage area for packaged meals and a small kitchen console.
6. Crew Stateroom – A double occupancy room for two crew members. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal.
7. Crew Stateroom - A double occupancy room for two crew members. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal.
8. Crew Stateroom - A double occupancy room for two crew members. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal.
9. Port (Manual) Air Lock – An air lock equipped with manually locked hatches. Not often used. Adjacent to the air lock is the crew’s lift shaft to the forward cargo bay.
10. Starboard (Iris) Air Lock – The primary crew airlock. Has an overhead iris for access to the dorsal surface of the ship or if connected to another ship.
11. Passenger Stateroom - A single occupancy room a high passenger. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal. Provision is made for a second passenger if desired.
12. Passenger Stateroom - A single occupancy room a high passenger. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal. Provision is made for a second passenger if desired.
13. Passenger Stateroom – A single occupancy room a high passenger. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal. Provision is made for a second passenger if desired.
14. Passenger Stateroom - A single occupancy room a high passenger. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal. Provision is made for a second passenger if desired.
15. Passenger Lounge – A common area were passengers may take their meals. It has a small kitchen unit and an entertainment console. On the starboard side is the lift shaft to the lower passenger staterooms.
16. Passenger Stateroom - A single occupancy room a high passenger. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal. Provision is made for a second passenger if desired.
17. Passenger Stateroom - A single occupancy room a high passenger. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal. Provision is made for a second passenger if desired.
18. Upper Engineering – The upper portion of the engineering section containing the primary engineering station, maneuver drives, jump drive, and jump capacitors. The upper portion of the power plant extends into this area. Most of the deck is open to the lower level and covered with catwalks.
19. Sensor Array – Transmitters for the ships active sensors and receivers for both active and passive sensors are in this dome. This room is pressurized only when maintenance is required to be performed in this area.
20. Sensor Processors – Cabinets containing the electronics to process the sensor signals and which convert them to useable data are located in this passageway. In an emergency, this area can be used as an airlock to access the ventral surface of the ship.
21. Auxilary Power Unit – A hydrogen fuel cell which can provide enough power to start the main power plant, hydraulics for the doors, emergency light and heat, passive sensor processing, and basic controls. It does not have a large enough output for inertial compensators or artificial gravity.
22. Life Support – The main life support for the ship is located here.
23.
24. Passenger (Iris) Air Lock – Main entrance for the passengers. Outside of this air lock are a small passenger reception area and a passageway to the lift shaft up to the passenger lounge.
25. Secure Cargo Storage – An area where sensitive items of cargo may be stored.
26. Low Passage Berth Room – A room where the ship’s two low passage berths are stored. Beneath each berth is a storeage locker for personal possessions.
27. Passenger Stateroom - A single occupancy room a high passenger. The room includes a fresher and a computer terminal. Provision is made for a second passenger if desired.
