Reign of the Winter Queen A Traveller Campaign
Not far from the Milky Way Galaxy is a globular cluster isolated from the rest of the galaxy but for a string of stars too spread out for conventional star travel. To this cluster a group of ancient people fled the war that was consuming the galaxy.  They spread among the stars of the cluster and lived in peace, until one of the warring factions discovered them and worked to remove any trace of the peoples that had fled here and destroying all technology. The survivors scattered on a few habitable worlds lived in primitive conditions.  Some of them advanced in technology, some of them disappeared into pre-history. Finally, one culture developed the ability to travel between the stars, discovering other cultures and eventually uniting the cluster into the Akharean Empire. The Akharean Empire ruled this cluster for over 1,000 years before a succession crisis and civil war brought about the collapse of the Empire.  Some worlds banded together to form smaller empires in the ruins of the greater empire.   Other worlds, too far from the main worlds, languished in the darkness and tried to make it on their own. On Akharea, seat of the former empire, and ruler of about a dozen planets, the empress, known as the Winter Queen, feels it is time to start contacting more worlds and increase the size of the Akharean Empire once again. This is where the campaign starts.
